SB364 Illegal Aliens as Law Enforcement Officers (passed 38 to 20 on 3/21/2025). Amends New Mexico law to expand eligibility for law-enforcement-officer appointments to noncitizens. The bill allows illegal aliens to serve as law-enforcement officers in New Mexico.

HB518 LGBTQ+ Public Holiday (passed 41 to 11 on 3/13/2025). Designates the fourth Tuesday of January of each odd-numbered year as "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Expansive Day" in New Mexico.

HB458 Carbon-Capture Stewardship (passed 51 to 11 on 3/11/2025). Enacts the Geologic Carbon Dioxide Storage Stewardship Act, which authorizes the transfer of carbon-capture sequestration facilities, and long-term storage responsibilities to the state, and creates a long-term storage fund.

HB453 Housing Assistance Program (passed 47 to 16 on 3/10/2025). Amends the Affordable Housing Act to establish a program providing grants to cover unpaid rent and damages to rented residential properties, land, buildings, or infrastructure to support affordable housing.

HB12 "Extreme Risk" Firearm Confiscation (passed 41 to 27 on 2/25/2025). Amends the Extreme Risk Firearm Protection Order Act to allow law-enforcement officers to file petitions for firearm protection orders, requiring respondents to surrender all firearms immediately.

HB77 SNAP Expansion (passed 62 to 0 on 2/21/2025). Enacts a new section of the Public Assistance Act requiring the New Mexico Health Care Authority to develop annual state outreach plans, and seek maximum matching funds from the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

SB3 Paid Medical Leave (Failed 34 to 36 on 2/14/2024). Proposed creating a state-run Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) program, offering up to 12 weeks of paid leave for workers.

SB17 Subsidized Healthcare (Passed 59 to 1 on 2/13/2024). Creates a Medicaid-funded program to direct $1.3 billion toward financially struggling hospitals, prioritizing rural facilities while imposing federal quality and spending requirements.

SB153 Early Childhood Education Funding (Passed 52 to 14 on 2/10/2024). Increases the annual transfer to the Early Childhood Education and Care Program Fund from $150 million to $250 million.

HB41 Clean Transportation Fuel Standards (Passed 36 to 33 on 2/3/2024). Establishes a Clean Transportation Fuel Standard to reduce the "carbon intensity" of transportation fuels used in the state.

HB129 Firearm Sale Waiting Period (Passed 37 to 33 on 2/2/2024). Establishes a mandatory seven-day waiting period for all firearm purchases.

HB2 General Appropriation (Passed 53 to 16 on 1/31/2024). Enacts the state's General Appropriation Act for fiscal year 2025, allocating funding across multiple sectors.

SB4 "Free" School Meals (passed 63 to 0 on 3/12/2023). Expands "free" meals to all public, charter, and private school students attending schools that participate in the national school breakfast and lunch programs.

HB15 Permanent Residence for Illegal Aliens Under 21 (passed 64 to 0 on 3/12/2023). Allows illegal aliens under 21 years of age to apply for “Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ)” classification in children’s court and seek “lawful permanent residence” in the U.S. if it is in their “best interests” due to “abuse, neglect, abandonment, or similar circumstances.”

HB306 Universal Background Checks for Firearms (passed 62 to 3 on 3/10/2023). Makes it a crime for a person to purchase or transfer any firearm “for, on behalf of or at the request or demand of” another person who is a “felon” or “intends to use, carry, possess, sell, or otherwise transfer” a firearm “in furtherance of a felony or misdemeanor.”

HB400 Medicaid for All (passed 58 to 10 on 3/7/2023). Requires a study of the “Medicaid Forward” plan, which would open Medicaid coverage to every resident, regardless of income.

HB7 State-Sponsored Abortion and Sex Mutilation (passed 38 to 31 on 2/21/2023). Provides that state or local entities “shall not deny, restrict, or interfere” with a person’s ability to access “reproductive health care,” such as “abortion,” or “gender-affirming health care.”

HM38 "Equality New Mexico Day" (passed 47 to 14 on 2/8/2023). Commemorates the “founding of equality” in New Mexico for “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer individuals,” the validation of “same-sex marriages,” and the “defeat” of “anti-transgender bills.”

SB1 Increasing Teacher Salaries (Passed 61 to 0 on 4/5/2022). Increases the minimum starting pay of the state’s public school teachers by $10,000.

SB14 Clean Fuel Standard Act (Rejected 33 to 33 on 2/17/2022). Offers tax incentives to fuel producers to encourage lower-carbon fuel production and requires fuel producers to meet certain requirements and emission caps intended to reduce air pollution from the transportation sector.

SB140 Opportunity Scholarship Act (Passed 51 to 17 on 2/16/2022). Makes college tuition-free for most New Mexicans and establishes the most wide-reaching tuition-free scholarship program in the United States.

SB37 Public Project Revolving Fund (Passed 66 to 0 on 2/14/2022). Appropriates funds to the drinking water state revolving loan fund, the wastewater facility construction loan fund, and the cultural affairs facilities infrastructure fund.

HB37 Community Energy Efficiency Development Block Grant (Passed 44 to 24 on 2/5/2022). Increases the affordability of energy utilities to low-income communities by creating a program to increase energy efficiency in low-income homes. 

HB 2 General Appropriations Act (Passed 56 to 8 on 2/3/2022). Makes recurring general fund appropriations for fiscal year 2023 of $8.48 billion, up 13.9 percent from 2022.
