HB95, the Alabama Post-Election Audit Act, requires each county's judge of probate to conduct a post-election audit after every countywide and statewide general election. At least one precinct and one countywide or statewide race must be selected, and all ballots in that precinct for the selected race must be audited to check the accuracy of the reported results. Audit findings must be reported to the secretary of state and posted publicly, although the audits do not alter certified election results.

The Alabama State Senate passed HB95 on March 31, 2026 by a vote of 22 to 7. We have assigned pluses to the ayes because this bill helps verify election results and reduce the risk of electoral fraud and, by extension, voter disenfranchisement. Alabama should continue to exercise its authority under Article I, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution, as well as uphold the 14th, 15th, and 26th Amendments, to ensure free, fair, and secure elections, thereby protecting "the right of citizens of the United States to vote."
