S3407 mandates that projects financed under the Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) program comply with prevailing-wage requirements, ensuring workers receive no less than the prevailing-wage rate. It removes prior exclusions that exempted C-PACE financing from wage mandates.
The New Jersey State House of Representatives passed S3407 on June 28, 2024 by a vote of 64 to 9. We have assigned pluses to the nays because mandating prevailing wages imposes wage controls, restricting free-market competition and driving up costs for taxpayers. By inflating labor expenses, this measure not only burdens the economy, but advances the Left’s Marxist global green agenda, which relies heavily on government mandates and subsidies rather than market-driven solutions. Taxpayers should not foot the bill for these projects.
