AR117 urges Congress to renew funding for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which provides discounted broadband access to low-income households.

The New Jersey State House of Representatives passed AR117 on March 18, 2024 by a vote of 71 to 0. We have assigned pluses to the nays because AR117 urges Congress to approve spending that is unconstitutional under Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution. Taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize internet access, especially when the government selectively benefits certain groups, effectively picking winners and losers. Internet accessibility should be left to the free market without government interference.
