HF639 Carbon Sequestration Rules (Passed 27 to 22 on 5/12/2025). Would have tightened insurance requirements for pipeline operators and redefined “common carrier” status to limit eminent domain use—particularly affecting carbon-capture pipelines.

HF856 DEI Ban (Passed 34 to 16 on 5/9/2025). Prohibits public entities—including state agencies, counties, cities, school districts, community colleges, and public universities—from spending any public or private funds on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) offices, roles, or initiatives.

HF924 Weapon Carry Age Reduction (Passed 33 to 14 on 4/7/2025). Lowers the minimum age for acquiring or carrying weapons from 21 to 18. 

SF459 Ranked-choice Voting Ban (Passed 34 to 13 on 3/19/2025). Prohibits the use of ranked choice voting (RCV) and instant runoff voting (IRV) in state and local elections. 

SF22 Government Overreach in Driving (Passed 47 to 1 on 3/18/2025). Makes it illegal to use a handheld electronic device (such as a phone) while driving unless it’s in hands-free or voice-activated mode. 

SF418 Defining Sex (Passed 33 to 15 on 2/27/2025). Establishes a strictly biological definition of “sex” based on birth anatomy and removes “gender identity” as a protected category under the Iowa Civil Rights Act.

HF2319 Prohibiting Guaranteed Income Programs (Passed 35 to 13 on 4/16/2024). Bans Iowa counties and cities from creating or maintaining guaranteed income programs.

SF2308 Disaster Assistance (Passed 48 to 0 on April 3, 2024). Updates Iowa's disaster response by allowing the Governor to accept federal grants for expenses local or state funds can't cover.

SF2340 Illegal Immigration (Passed 34 to 16 on 3/05/2024). Criminalizes illegal reentry, with penalties based on prior offenses; allows deportation orders; and grants immunity to officials enforcing the law, except for misconduct. It also bans deferred or suspended sentences for these convictions.

SF2325 Ban Citizen Review Boards in Law Enforcement (Passed 37 to 9 on 3/4/2024). Prohibits cities with civil service commissions from establishing citizen review boards to oversee police conduct.

SF2096 Ending Wokeness (Passed 32 to 15 on 2/20/2024). Repeals a 1987 law mandating gender balance, political diversity, and racial representation in appointments to state boards and commissions, rolling back these "woke" requirements.

SF2095 Religious Freedom Protection (Passed 31 to 16 on 2/20/2024). Protects people's religious rights by preventing the government from imposing burdens on their religious practices. If someone's religious freedom is violated, they can seek legal action and potentially receive damages.

SF318 Office of Apprenticeship (Passed 34 to 15 on 4/20/2023). Establishes an Iowa Office of Apprenticeship and Iowa apprenticeship council.

SF496 School Transparency (Passed 34 to 16 on 4/19/2023). Mandates the Department of Education (DE) to oversee the review of library materials for explicit content in schools, requiring parental consent for access to certain books, introducing curriculum changes, including restrictions on gender identity and sexuality instruction before grade five, removing specific sexual education content, and implementing a civics test requirement.

SF315 Raw Milk (Passed 37 to 13 on 4/17/2023).  Allows raw milk dairies that comply with safety standards to sell raw milk and products derived from raw milk directly to consumers.

SF326 Birth Control (Passed 45 to 3 on 3/15/2023). Authorizes pharmacists to order and administer self-administered hormonal contraceptives to individuals aged eighteen years and older.

SF538 Sex Changes for Minors (Passed 33 to 16 on 3/7/2023). Prohibits activities regarding gender transition procedures relative to minors.

HF68 Private-school Funding (Passed 31 to 18 on 1/23/2023). Creates education programs and funding by establishing an education savings account program.
