H7830 Expanding Attorney General's Authority (passed 49 to 19 on 6/13/2024). Allows the state Attorney General to investigate and bring an enforcement action against persistent fraud or illegality in the carrying on, conducting, or transaction of business or governmental activity.

S2828 Suppressor Ban Exemption (passed 57 to 4 on 06/13/2024). Amends Rhode Island’s weapons laws to maintain the prohibition on manufacturing, selling, purchasing, or possessing firearm silencers, while creating an exemption for law enforcement officers.

S2780 Election Drop Boxes (passed 59 to 12 on 6/12/2024). Amends Rhode Island’s mail ballot laws to require that mail ballot drop boxes be accessible to the public starting 35 days prior to state and federal elections, and 20 days prior to special elections.

H7616 Renewable Energy Subsidy Program (passed 70 to 1 on 06/12/2024). Establishes the Renewable Ready Program to promote renewable energy development on contaminated or state-owned sites by creating a fund within the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank.

H7373 Firearm Storage Requirement (passed 46 to 24 on 5/28/2024). Amends Rhode Island’s weapons laws to mandate safe storage of firearms, requiring they be secured in locked containers or equipped with safety devices when not in use.

H7387 Election Media Restrictions (passed 70 to 5 on 05/02/2024). Establishes regulations in Rhode Island to prohibit the distribution of deceptive synthetic media, such as manipulated images, audio, or videos, within 90 days of an election, to prevent “fraudulent” election communications.

S464 Tax Credits for Theater (Passed 62 to 9 on 6/14/2023). Creates tax credit opportunities for musicals, stage plays, and other productions in Rhode Island until 2027.

S988 Mandatory EV Chargers (Passed 49 to 12 on 6/15/2023). Would require companies to create new parking spaces outfitted with electric vehicle chargers.

S129 IDs for Illegal Immigrants (Passed 59 to 14 on 6/14/2023). Makes applicants without “proof of lawful presence” eligible for a Rhode Island driver’s license and requires that these IDs  “shall not be used as a basis for a criminal investigation, arrest, or detention.”

S121 Loose Adoption Laws (Passed 65 to 6 on 6/8/2023). Makes adoption easier for single/nonmarried people and removes several requirements to accommodate LGBT adoption.

H5006 Mandatory Abortion Coverage (Passed 49 to 24 on 4/27/2023). Would require insurance companies to provide abortion coverage to residents of Rhode Island.

H5371 Mandatory Minimum Wage (Passed 56 to 12 on 5/4/2023). Expands the number of occupations that qualify for minimum wage and creates new protections for such employees.
