SB73 shrinks the small-group health plan market by lowering the employer size limit from 100 to 50 employees, forcing many businesses into the costlier large-group market.

The Colorado State House of Representatives passed SB73 on April 4, 2024 by a vote of 56 to 6. We have assigned pluses to the nays because it increases government control over health insurance. Instead of letting competition set prices and coverage, the state is imposing arbitrary rules that hurt employers. It also gives unelected regulators more power over insurance rates, adding bureaucracy and driving up costs. This is an example of big government interfering where it should not even exist.
