AB377 establishes English as the official language of Wisconsin.

The Assembly passed AB377 on January 15, 2026, by a vote of 51 to 45. We have assigned pluses to the ayes because this bill protects America's heritage and unity as "one Nation" from those who seek to subvert our country with multiculturalism. Executive Order 14224, issued by President Donald Trump on March 1, 2025, rightly declares: "From the founding of our Republic, English has been used as our national language. Our Nation's historic governing documents, including the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, have all been written in English." To safeguard the American way of life, and the exceptional character of our civil institutions, for "ourselves and our Posterity," it is crucial that each of the several States, as well as the federal government, designate English as the one and only official language.
