SB113 Parental Rights Affirmation (Passed 31 to 4 on 3/12/2025). Affirms that a parent's right to care for and make decisions for his or her child is a fundamental liberty.

HJR5002 Con-Con - Term Limits (Passed 25 to 10 on 3/4/2025). Applies to Congress for an Article V convention to propose an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would establish term limits for members of Congress. 

HB1132 Childcare Assistance Program (Passed 20 to 14 on 3/4/2025). Enacts a childcare assistance program to allow certain childcare workers to qualify for help with their own childcare costs.

HB1052 CO2 Eminent Domain Prevention (Passed 23 to 12 on 3/4/2025). Provides that no one is allowed to use eminent domain—the unconstitutional power to take private property—to build or operate a pipeline primarily meant for transporting carbon oxide.

SB82 Defend the Guard (Rejected 6 to 29 on 2/3/2025). Requires an official declaration of war or other congressional action before the South Dakota National Guard may be deployed by the federal government.

SB1 Federal Rule Adoption (Passed 35 to 0 on 1/22/2025). Updates the state's adoption of federal motor carrier safety and hazardous materials regulations to include all changes made through January 1, 2025.

HB1186 Pipeline Easements (Passed 24 to 10 on 3/6/2024). Forces landowners to grant a right-of-way for carbon dioxide pipelines, putting their property at risk, disguising it at "property rights."

SB144 Airport Grants (Passed 27 to 6 on March 6, 2024). Appropriates $10,000,000 from the general fund to the Aeronautics Commission for grants aimed at enhancing airport terminal infrastructure projects, including airport expansion.

SB201 Carbon-Capture Pipeline (Passed 24 to 10 on 3/6/2024). Facilitates the construction of carbon-capture pipelines that threaten property rights, permits state authorities to override local ordinances regulating the pipelines for safety or economic reasons, and fails to impose restrictions on eminent domain.

HB1131 Homeless IDs (Passed 27 to 6 on 2/27/2024). Mandates the South Dakota Department of Public Safety to waive the fee for an original or duplicate nondriver identification card one time for applicants who are homeless.

HB1161 Central Bank Digital Currency (Passed 32 to 1 on 2/15/2024). Prohibits the state of South Dakota and its agencies from accepting central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) for any payments, including taxes, fees, and debts.

SB115 Prohibit Guaranteed Income Programs (Passed 29 to 4 on 2/7/2024). Prohibits counties, townships, and municipalities in South Dakota from establishing ordinances, orders, or rules that implement a guaranteed income program.

HB1220 Criminal Immunity for Women Who Have Abortions (passed 33 to 1 on 3/6/2023). Provides that that a female who undergoes an unlawful abortion may not be held criminally liable.

SB210 Fiscal Year 2024 Budget (passed 29 to 3 on 3/3/2023). Appropriates $7.4 billion for the state's budget during the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2024.

HB1116 Defunding Lewd or Lascivious Content (failed 15 to 18 on 3/2/2023). Would prohibit the use of state resources, such as by public libraries or public school districts, in hosting lewd or lascivious content.

HB1193 "Electronic Money" in the Uniform Commercial Code (passed 24 to 9 on 3/1/2023). Would adopt a new definition of “electronic money” in the Uniform Commercial Code.

HB1080 Protecting Minors from Sex Mutilation (passed 30 to 4 on 2/9/2023). Prohibits certain medical and surgical interventions on minor patients, including puberty blockers and gender affirmation surgeries.

SB55 Prohibiting Ranked-Choice Voting (passed 31 to 4 on 2/2/2023). Prevents the State Board of Elections from authorizing and a political subdivision from establishing a system of ranked-choice voting.

HB1340 Budget (passed 31 to 1 on 3/10/2022). Provides approximately $5.9 billion in funding for the operations of the state's government for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2022, and ending June 30, 2023.

HB1223 Informed Consent by Pregnant Minors (passed 30 to 5 on 3/2/2022). Would authorize the informed consent by a pregnant minor for any medical or dental procedure or service related to the minor’s prenatal care, the delivery process, or postnatal care if the minor’s parent or guardian is either “unavailable or withholds consent."

SB211 Exemption from COVID-19 Vaccination (passed 31 to 4 on 2/14/2022). Would provide that employers must allow medical, religious, and natural immunity-based exemptions from COVID-19 vaccination requirements, but not apply to certain health care facilities and the South Dakota National Guard.

HJR5001 Article V Convention: Constitutional Amendments (failed 16 to 19 on 2/9/2022). Would apply to Congress, under the provisions of Article V of the U.S. Constitution, to call for a "convention of states" for the purpose of proposing constitutional amendments.

SB177 Educational Freedom (passed 21 to 14 on 2/17/2021). Revises the provisions of parental choice regarding compulsory school attendance by expanding “alternative instruction” (e.g., home education) options.

SJR501 Rescinding the Call for an Article V Convention: Balanced Budget Amendment (failed 17 to 18 on 2/9/2021). Would rescind HJR1001, adopted by the Legislature in 2015, which applied to Congress to “call an Article V convention of the states for the sole purpose of proposing a federal balanced budget amendment.”
