HJR1F proposes amendments to the Florida Constitution to increase the state's homestead exemption, lower the annual assessment cap on non-homestead properties, and limit the use of property taxes by local governments.

The House passed HJR1F on June 2, 2026, by a vote of 75 to 26. We have assigned pluses to the yeas because property taxes—like the income tax—are immoral, anti-constitutional acts of government robbery. Property should not be taxed at any level against anyone, as a person's property belongs solely to them, not the state. Property taxed is property not owned at all. Since property is tied to ownership, only when a person or business is secure in the possession of their property can they have the freedom to exercise self-government. Every attack on private property is, therefore, an attack on individual liberty. No American should be forced to pay perpetual rent on the property they "own" or face prosecution. The U.S. Constitution's Bill of Rights and 14th Amendment were intended to safeguard "private property" and prevent "any State" from depriving "any person" of "property, without due process of law."
